I have long been interested in Herman Melville’s periodical fiction, which is to say, the lesser known short pieces that he wrote for magazines. Luckily, I had the opportunity to explore Melville’s “The Encantadas, or The Enchanted Isles” (which he wrote for Putnam’s) as part of a collection of articles that have now ben published as Postcolonial Oceans: Contradictions, Heterogeneities, Knowledges, Materialities. The book is out now and available here. It contains wonderful articles by colleagues from around the world and across disciplines, strongly recommended reading for everyone interested in the Blue Humanities.
